Joe Studlick

BoRIA Director-Grants

Joe grew up in a small coal-mining town in Pennsylvania and holds geology degrees from Millersville University and The Ohio State University. He spent 40 years in the energy industry in New Orleans and Houston, working in oil and gas exploration for Shell Oil, Maersk, Unocal, and others, followed by more than a decade running his own geological consulting firm.

After moving to Rhode Island, Joe became increasingly interested in the state’s Revolutionary War history. He is a founding director of the Battle of Rhode Island Association and has been actively involved in its historical research, educational programs, fundraising, and preservation efforts at Butts Hill Fort. He also serves on the Alumni Board of the School of Earth Sciences at The Ohio State University and volunteers as a Master Gardener mentor.
